Satechi Debuts Magnetic Wireless Charger for iPhone 12 Models

Satechi today announced a new USB-C Magnetic Wireless Charging Cable, a new wireless charging option for Apple's iPhone 12 models. Designed to work with magnets built into the iPhone 12 series, the Magnetic Wireless Charging Cable attaches to the back of the iPhone, similar to Apple's MagSafe charger.

The Magnetic Wireless Charging Cable plugs into an "iPhone 12" with a magnetic connection, but it is not a "MagSafe" and, like other Qi-based wireless chargers, it can charge an "iPhone with a maximum of 7.5W."

Although the “MagSafe” cannot be charged at charging speeds, Satechi's charger is useful because it sits in the right spot for charging on an “iPhone 12”. It has a small wireless charging disc that is slightly smaller than standard Qi-based wireless chargers with no magnets for the docking guide.

The Magnetic Wireless Charging Cable has a space gray surface and the cable measures close to five feet, so it's long enough to be used even when a power outlet isn't close. Plugs into any USB-C power adapter but doesn't ship with one.

Satechi's new wireless charging option is designed to work with the iPhone 12‌ models, but when paired with a new Magnetic Sticker, it is also compatible with the iPhone 11 series. The Magnetic Sticker is also necessary when using the charger with a “iPhone 12” case without built-in “MagSafe” magnets, but it works alone on a bare “iPhone 12” or “iPhone 12” with a “MagSafe” case.

The USB-C Magnetic Wireless Charging Cable can be pre-ordered from Satechi's website for $ 29.99. Magnetic Sticker can be purchased separately for $ 9.99. Those who pre-order from today to December 16 can get a 20 percent discount on their purchases using the MAGNET promo code.
